so much happened on wednesday
i will have to break it into parts
when in billings
the cabelas had no overnight parking sign
ended up at walmart
there were two buses there
at 3am the parking lot cleaner parked behind my car
for at least five minutes
brutal
so i got up and started on
fornuately the next town also had a walmart
and that lot was packed with overnighters
got another hour and half sleep and started for red lodge
the car went over 10,000 since bought in march
and 2,000 for the trip
the check oil light went on
hoping from the factory
went to check and for the life of me
could not find the dip stick
total blank
had to call my dad
it was tucked up front
it seemed a little short and added half a bottle
dad stressed waiting 10 minutes
you could see the fog up on the mountain
it was around 9am and none of the shops opened til 10
talked to a ranger and she said it wouldn’t hurt to wait some
after a hour and the shops opened
the really nice guys at an outfitters store
said no go
it should open up on top
the beartooth was amazing
winding road up a mountain
sharp turns
limited guard rails
tight lines
there was several scary moments
but man was it beautiful
the fog broke quick
but near the top it came back
for what seemed like forever
a thick fog came in
could see may three-four car lengths in front
it broke on the other side
wish you could see the views on a sunny day
but it was intense and awesome
it was one way for a while
so traffic got stopped
was one of the last cars
so turned off to look at the view
and let everyone ahead
these two guys from oregon
had the same idea
and we talked at a couple stops
it was breaktaking at those two overlooks
the ride down was pretty fun
big thanks to tyler for suggesting that route
could only imagine how chris petta would have drive that road
it would be really fun or really dead
